Curatorial Art Practice in Ramsgate and beyond
Our philosophy is discovery. We work with artists of all generations. Art history often holds the key for interpreting the art of today. Over the years our research has led us to help revive the career of artists that have been at the origin of new movements, as well as of new ways of thinking. We brought back crucial works unseen for several decades, and collections that continue to be highly relevant today. It has always been fascinating for us that younger artists tell us how important older generations can be for them.
Amongst other curating works, we have produced the most important exhibition in decades for the British Constructivists in São Paulo during the 2012 biennale, in parallel with the Brazilian Concrete artists. The retrospective, called Concrete Parallels/Concretos Paralelos, has shed new light on one of the most important creative moments from both sides of the Atlantic from the 50’s to the 70’s, and was accompanied by a 300 pages catalogue. A few years later, in 2017, I curated British Constructivism, The Catherine Petitgas Collection, at Pallant House in Chichester.
In 2020 the gallery has moved to Ramsgate.
The gallery will mix site specific projects and a home-based gallery. It promotes young and established artists from Britain and abroad, and work in collaboration with the diverse cultural actors of the area. We look forward to welcoming you to the delightful town of Ramsgate, its stunning architecture, natural reserves and riveting coastal line, and to enjoy art with us.
We share insights on the artists of our time with those who value and collect art.
