Along those lines

House of Saint Barnabas, Soho, London
29 January – 10 April, and re-opened from 20 August to 31 October 2020

Kerry Andrews, Richard Caldicott, Fieroza Doorsen, Günther Herbst, Bérénice Mayaux, Michael Stubbs

It is too often assumed that art is either abstract or figurative. For some artists this either/or is unnecessarily rigid. Along Those Lines is an exhibition that looks at the hybrid use of geometry in art. Curator Clare Bradley has chosen six artists who play with the infinite possibilities of geometrical forms as elements inside a wider representational context. Each of them in their different way is looking at the unbound resonance of geometric abstraction and what it does to us, intuitively and cognitively. For this, there are no boundaries and no limit to where it starts and stops.

BERENICE MAYAUX

Abstract Beans
18-31 August 2020
Ramsgate

Laurent Delaye Gallery is delighted to announce its new program of exhibitions in Ramsgate. The gallery will mix site specific projects and a home-based gallery.

Our first show will be a solo exhibition of French artist Bérénice Mayaux, a painter living in Paris and Los Angeles. She creates rich compositions freely moving from spontaneous images to meticulously planned structures. She mixes at will rigorous abstraction, vibrant organic forms, and unexpected figuration. Her range of experimentation is wide, and she is as interested in multidimensional space as in intricate colour grades and light spectrum. Her drawings sensually play with the fluid passage of the brush while her paintings are striking for their extremely complex precision.
